Which tape drive to purchase?

We must buy a external scsi tape drive for a e250/Solaris8 to hold
backups. Which do you recommend me or point me to a document about this.
(no hw problems, easy setup, compression? autoload/eject? changer? ...).
It will be my first installation of a tape drive.
BTW: Can a scsi external tape drive be hot-plugged?
