Building Ximian Evolution on Solaris 8 x86

Hi,
Has anyone tried compiling this yet? I
need the calendar stuff for a project of mine and
there's no binary release for Solaris-intel.
Looking for tips and tricks to ease the build
process because it sounds like a mother. Will
summarise and/or include my experiences.
