swap layout: root disk or SAN disk
2007-12-25 4:36:00
I'm running solaris 8 and 9 on sun 480's and 490's with 16gb and 32gb ram.
I'm running oracle and sybase on these.
I currently have a 8gb swap on the root disk.
All my servers are connected to fast SAN's that are typically raid5 across
7 or 13 disks with 2gb cache on the SAN.
Should I leave my swap on the root disk or will I get better performance if
I move it to the SAN disks?
If you reccomend the SAN, should I move all the swap to the SAN or leave a
little on the root disks and the majority on the SAN?
Would this give a noticeable performance increase?
Thank you! I will summarize.
