auditing

A couple questions:

Does auditing work on nfs filesystems or local only?

If it works on nfs, do you need to enable this on every system or can
you enable it on only one that touches all the nfs filesystems?

I am running Solaris 7 and 8 with NetApp as my nfs servers.
