"boot net" resets console to screen
2007-12-24 20:59:00
I'm getting problem when trying to install Solaris 8
01/01 on Sun-Blade-1000 with Jump Start over terminal
console (ttya instead of screen/kbd).
Once booted from net the machine apparently resets
console to screen and keyboard (I can't see any more
messages on ttya, machine doesn't react to Send-Break
sequence).
The machine is up, as it responds to ping requests,
but when trying telnet/ftp/rlogin I get "Connection
refused" (though these are defined in inetd.conf in
Toools/Boot directory of JumpStart server). It looks
like I'll have to power-off system... Are there
possibly any backdoors to access the system or boot it
from preinstalled Solaris8 on disk?
The system also doesn't proceed with the installation
because of server misconfiguration, but that's another
story.
The question is : how can I keep console on ttya
device throughout installation? (do I need to change
some settings in Tools/Boot are apply some patches
there?)
Thanks,
Houssik
