VERY slow netwok ...

MAN DO I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT ... Thank You Gary for pointing out my problem.

Though I had all of my files set up properly i had created /etc/defaultroute

not /etc/defaultrouter. Obviously there was no default route setup after I

rebooted the box which explains my problems ...

Thank You ALL for the many replies I recieved which all had the same answer

You can't see your dns nameserver.

check /etc/nsswitch.conf - look for dns on the "names" line. Remove it if

you don't want to use dns.

/etc/resolv.conf - check for the nameservers ip address. Is it right?

look at netstat -rn output, to see if you have a route to the nameserver.

Masters,

I have just built an E250 with Solaris 7 and installed the latest patch

cluster, and I am experiancing a problem with my network interface, I

believe. When I telnet to the new box I connect to it but it takes a good

30 - 45 secconds for the login: prompt to appear. When I finaly log into

the the box if I run a netstat -a or any other netstat command the command

hangs for a while again 30sec to 1min and then finally spits out its answer.

What could be the problem?
