ftp connect is immediate, prompt takes 3 minutes

Hi all,

I have a client who is trying to ftp to an e450 from overseas. The

connection takes about 1 second but the login prompt takes 3-4 minutes to

come up. We are going through a Firewall-1 firewall but other boxes on the

same subnet have their login prompt come back after just a few seconds.

We're running 2.6 fully patched.

The overwhelming response was that I might have a reverse DNS lookup problem

and

indeed we did. We are currently working on a work around. Thanks again to

everybody.

Moral of the story: If you get a connection quickly and then it takes 3

minutes to get a login prompt back,

think reverse lookup!
