NIS Passwd hangs

When users change their NIS passwords, they are prompted for their lon
password and new password. After this information is entered, yppasswd
displays the message "NIS passwd/attributes changed on <NIS Master> but
the users do not get their shell prompts back (see dialogue below). If
they do a Control C, the password does get updated in the password file.
Anyone know what's happening here? Will summarize.
% yppasswd
yppasswd: Changing password for guest
Enter login(NIS) password:
New password:
Re-enter new password:
NIS passwd/attributes changed on nismaster
(hungs here)
