Testing RAM chips
2007-12-24 20:58:00
I have a customer who suspects that the RAM chips in his server has a bad
block or something. One way of testing is to run "test /memory" on the OB
prompt. But does it rule out any bad block problems (whatever it is ) in the
RAM chips? Or do i have to write a forth script to check the entire memory
range by writing and reading to the RAM chips?
Also, do Sun servers have the concept of hard/soft reboot like Intel boxes?
I am assuming that "init 6" is the same as "init 5" except that after "init
5" i have to manually power on the server.
