Sparc 20 Boot Problems

panicing on bootup. I have tried running OpenBSD 3.4, Gentoo 1.4rc5 livecd,
Solaris 8&9.
OpenBSD & gentoo(uniprocessor mode) startup fine. but If I start gentoo-smp
or either versions of Solaris, the system will either panic or lock. I read
in a Ross faq that frequent panics could mean faulty cpu's, any ideas?
