CORRECTED: Can't change default printer
2007-12-25 11:30:00
pointed out to me that the environmental variables LPDEST and PRINTER can
interfere with lpadmin operations in just the way I described. After
getting rid of those variables, lpadmin works the way it should. I can
lp to my printers correctly.
For some reason enscript 1.6.1 is still unhappy.
# enscript -P swjet foo
_default: unknown printer
Broken pipe
# enscript -d swjet foo
_default: unknown printer
Broken pipe
However, this works:
# enscript -p - foo | lp -d swjet
