hme card only working with MII?

acquired used machine and I have not been able to get the nic working. =20
I have a twisted-pair cable connected to a Cisco switch and I do not get
a link light. I can ping my own interface successfully. =20
I checked ndd transceiver_in_use and it returns 1, meaning the MII
interface is in use. ndd link_status also returns 1. So it is telling
me the MII is in use and it has an active link. I have nothing
connected to the MII interface however. Any idea on how to force the
card to use the twisted pair interface? I checked sun docs and it says
the card automatically chooses the right interface. Why am I getting
this bogus information? Any help is appreciated, I am a bit new to Sun
and Solaris but I don=81ft mind reading documentation, I have read
everything I can find on this however. =20
