Thanks to Casper Dik, Carl-Johan Schenstrom, and Hoang Nguyen for their
replies. There are patches for Solaris 2.6 and higher to allow up to
1024 clients.
Solaris 2.6 for Sparc patch 105633-39 or higher
Solaris 2.6 for Intel patch 106248-31 or higher
Solaris 7 for Sparc patch 108376-11 or higher
Solaris 7 for Intel patch 108377-10 or higher
Solaris 8 for Sparc 108652-11 or higher
Solaris 8 for Sparc 108653-11 or higher
The Xservers file must be modified to enable this option. The Xservers
file is usually copied from /usr/dt/config to /etc/dt/config before
modifying. The last line should look similar to this:
:0 Local local_uid at console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner
Add the -clients 1024 option after -nobanner as shown below:
:0 Local local_uid at console root /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun :0 -nobanner -clients 1024
Then do "Reset Login Screen" from the Options button on the dtlogin
banner to effect the change.
