jumpstarting with Solaris 8 04/01 - my guess

2007-12-24 20:01:00

I've been trying to do much the same (jumpstart Solaris 8 1/01) with much
the same results. I have a working Solaris 7 jumpstart environment.

However, once I changed the entry for the target node in /etc/bootparams to:

EF-OTT34 root=EF-SUN01:/export/install/OS/Solaris_2.8/Solaris_8/Tools/Boot
install=EF-SUN01:/export/install/OS/Solaris_2.8 boottype=:in
rootopts=:rsize=32768 network_interface=PRIMARY {hostname=EF-OTT34
ip_address=172.16.0.134 netmask=255.255.0.0 protocol_ipv6=NO}
security_policy=none terminal=xterm

(changed the root= entry to point to Solaris 8, added "network_interface
...xterm" to the end of the line)

it seemed to work better (still asks me if I want IPv6 and Kerberos).

It seems to ALWAYS try to find an rpc.bootparamsd server if it's connected
to the network.
