Automounter Insight Needed

Sorry for the late summary but.....

Thanks to david Evans who gave me many ideas but still no real conclusion

to the problem. The vendor fixed there tool so it does not look at /net

any more so I am up an running...

Chasing a LSF (load sharing problem) I noticed some wierdness about

auotmounter.

When ever a user who has a home directory on local machine and if a

submitted job

would get exacuted there it would fail with all sorts of errors. After

many testcases

and thererys we figured out LSF in this scenario was seeting its CWD to

/net/hostname/home/

username/directory and this is the cause of the problem. On more

invesigation I noticed

if I cd /net/hostname/home/username and do a pwd and echo $cwd they return

/home/username but as

soon as I go down one directory /net/hostname/home/username/scripts I get

the following:

eddy slimepuppy [58] pwd

pwd: cannot determine current directory!

eddy slimepuppy [59] echo $cwd

/home/eddy/scripts

Why does pwd know /net/hostname/home/username but as soon as I go down it

gets squirly. I would

figure it would break at /net/hostname/home/username.

This scenario is 2.6 but on 2.5.1 I get completely different errors. I

can cd

/net/hostname/home/username and pwd and $cwd returns

/net/hostname/home/username and if I do a ls

I get the following

/scan: No such file or directory

./nsmail: No such file or directory

and I cant cd down a directory I get the following

eddy scintilla [36] cd scan

scan: No such file or directory.

eddy scintilla [37]

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated....

auto.master :

/home auto.home -rw,intr,nobrowse

/net -hosts -nosuid

/- /etc/auto_direct -ro,intr

auto.home:

eddy -rw,intr slimepuppy:/usr/export/home/eddy
