[Q] how to use "mlnod" to compress whole directory?

We have Informix DB running on Solaris 2.6. the problem we have is
Informix "dbexport" utility have some files > 2GB (error). The way
Informix doing are:

% dbexport dir1
dbexport will create directory dir1 and generate hundreds table export
files under dir1.

Cab anyone tell me how to use "mknod " to compress those files?
