A1000 connected with dual controllers?

I have a Sun A1000 disk array that I wish to attach to
an E3500. The E3500 has 2 external SCSI controllers.
I would like to know if I can connect both controllers to the A1000
(which seems to have In/Out labeled on each SCSI connector) and
assign a group of disks to each one, using RAID Manager?
I have 9 disks in the A1000 and was hoping I could assign 4 to c1 and
4 to c2. The left over disk would be a spare.
Does the A1000 support this configuration or is it only the D1000?
In my A1000 hardware manual, it says it has 2 SCSI controllers
inside the Hardware RAID Controller module.
I will be using Solaris 5.8 and RM-6.22.
