URGENT: File system full? or not?

went down hard and we had to restore ( /2a mount point the t3) via
Veritas NetBackup .
The Problem : df -k shows /2a ( the t3 holding the database) is 8%.
When you try to create a new database it says file system is full. Here
is a bunch more info.
The first block is the restored system , the second is mirror system (
4500, t3, oracle) in our lab.

27,151,472 MB
There is a difference of 10 GB from what ls -l is reporting as the size
of the file and
the sctual size that is being used from the du -sk command

I have heard of sparce files, but I don't know much about them.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
