passwd hardening to meet DSS security requirements

I am running Solaris 2.6 with NIS+. The DSS requirement is to have as a
minimum an alpha/numeric 6+2 password system enabled. Can this be done in
Solaris 2.6 natively or is some other tool required?
I have a DSS audit coming next week and need to get this implemented ASAP.
Thanks in advance and I'll summarize so this will help others who fear the
dreaded DSS.
