Backup problems

Thanks to all that responded. I got many different answers. Here is a summary

of the responses I recived. The original question is below.

1) I need to clean the heads.

My response: I had cleaned the heads several times

using a sony cleaning cartrige. It is possible that since this is not

the exabyte cleaner that it does not work as well as it should so I

have orderd exabyte cleaner specifically.

2) It may be the quality of the tape. (Data vs Video)

and that some brands are inferior. Maxwell tapes were mentioned.

My response: We use SONY QG-112M data cartriges. I should have specified this

in my posting. Again Sorry for the oversight. I assume this is a data grade

tape.

3) Many people said they do this all the time and that I should

not have any problems. Most likely I just have tapes that are not very

good.

4) Some others have suggested that I am an idiot and that the reason

it does not work is because I have no clue.

My repsonse: You all must have been talking with my wife. It was only

one litte red sock that made it into the white clothes and have forever

branded and idiot. I happen to like pink underwear.

Interstingly enough I got two responses stating they have had similar problems

and that they switched brands of tapes and the problem seems to have gone away.

My conclusion from all of this is that the tapes I have are lousy and that

I should try other brands of tapes.

Thanks again to all that have responded.
