Problem mounting new Veritas Volumes

I've created new volumes with the Veritas Volume Manager on my Solaris 8
server, and when I try to mount the volume using
# mount -F vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/mydg/myvol /mountpoint.
I'm getting the following error
"UX:vxfs mount: ERROR: not a valid vxfs file system"
I'd appreciate any suggestions/work arounds in this regards.
