SunRays over Routers

As far as I remember the SunRay Appliances has to be "directly" connected via a Switch to
the Server running the Server Software (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Now the Rays will be located in an other building an the Server will only be reachable via
switches and routers. Is this possible with Version 2.x or Version 3.x of the Server
Software. Is there any special configuration of the switches or routers necessary.
