rconfiguring display settings

2007-12-25 11:07:00

Hello everyone, my original question:

>I have a Pentium running Solaris x86 2.5 and I have already install and

>configured the system. I am having problems with the screen refresh. Is

there

>a way to reonfigure the video card selection that was made during the

>installation process?

Many thanks to the responders:

*** One interesting note, I have CDE running on this machine and if the display

settings are incorrectly configured, CDE will still attempt to run and when

that happens you can't even remotely login to affect changes to the settings.

Thanks again to everyone,

John Mostakis

Hi - yes, try

        kdmconfig -u

to remove the previous configuration and then type

        kdmconfig -cf

This needs to done without a windowing system running. Also, you may want to

download the lastest video drivers from Sun.

Answer: Many thanks to Cristian Gavazzeni (cristian@italy.sun.com)

          for the answer.

Use kdmconfig (1M) - configure or unconfigure keyboard, display and

mouse options for OpenWindows and internalization

You can follow these two steps (I suggest in single-user mode) :

            1) kdmconfig -u

               (This unconfigure your console-configuration)

            2) kdmconfig -cf

(This allow you to configure properly your system)

BTW /etc/openwin/server/etc/OWconfig is the ASCII-file were the

          informations are stored.

Yes.

kdmconfig -u

kdmconfig -v

Please refer to 'man kdmconfig' for more information.

Tony.
