Need to Fix w/o reboot

2007-12-24 21:23:00

unix: NFS fsstat failed for server toby: error 5 (RPC: Timed out)
unix: NFS getattr failed for server toby: error 5 (RPC: Timed out)

These errors occurred after changing the IP addr of a server which
serves automounted homedirs. Unfortunately, not everyone logged
off as instructed, so an NFS filehandle seems to be still open.

I am trying to avoid rebooting the client (which clears everything
up). Instead, I've tried restarted /etc/init.d/nfs.clients and
rpcbind (warm restart), but this doesn't help.

Does anyone know what I could do to fix this, short of a reboot?
