large files no longer a problem

I have a SunFire v480, SunOS 5.8 and an application which uses http. Of late
the httpd stoped due to its log reaching the file limit of 2GB. After removing
this log file, things started working again. I read a document which says the
large file problem has been removed since the SunOS 2.5. What could b wrong my
SunOS 5.8? How can I check whether my SunOS 5.8. real allows files larger than
2GB?
