failure login attempt

Hi People.

I have a question that include Solaris and all others Unix Systems like
HP-UX, AIX, Irix, etc.

Are the "failure" login attempts recorded in /var/adm/messages or in the
wtmp file ? ps: The users connect via telnet and rlogin.

And where are the failure login attempts recorded by the users that use the
CDE to log in ?
