Installing and configuring a second NIC

We are going to implement a hardware load balancer for two web servers
with Solaris 8. So I will be purchasing a second NIC for each of the
servers so I will be able to perform maintenance while it is connected
to the load balancer. My problem is I have never had to configure a
second NIC card and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right
direction.
