Add SAN disk without Reboot on non-Sun branded controllers

2007-12-25 6:10:00

I've used these steps in the past:

devfsadm -C

cfgadm -al (to get a list of controllers)

cfgadm -c configure c2::500610003412EAB23141

cfgadm -c configure c4::500610003412EAB23142

and on occasion, forget why, had to do a luxadm -e forcelip <port>

However, I'm on a project now where standard is to use Emulex cards and
drivers...and these steps are not working.

After devfsadm -C

And doing the cfgadm not seeing anything, format also doesn't show the
LUN added to the fabric:

(418) >> cfgadm -al

Ap_Id Type Receptacle Occupant
Condition

c0 scsi-bus connected configured
unknown

c0::dsk/c0t0d0 CD-ROM connected configured
unknown

usb0/1 unknown empty unconfigured ok

usb0/2 unknown empty unconfigured ok

usb0/3 unknown empty unconfigured ok

usb0/4 unknown empty unconfigured ok

Luxadm probe doesn't even see hba's

Apparently, we're using HBAnywhere:

(416) >> pkginfo -l HBAnyware

PKGINST: HBAnyware

NAME: Emulex HBAnyware FC Host Bus Adapter Remote Manager

CATEGORY: system

ARCH: sun4u

VERSION: 2.0a16

BASEDIR: /

PSTAMP: utilsun0320040525101537

INSTDATE: May 05 2005 23:12

STATUS: completely installed

[/]11:13:18 >> ls /usr/sbin/lpfc/

convert_path_lpfc dfc32 lputil lputil64
update_lpfc

dfc dfc64 lputil32 resetqdepth

[/]11:13:18 >>

I can run the lputil cmd to show any necessary output...thanks
