Netra SNMP agent

Has anyone managed to get the Netra SNMP agent package (SUNWsnimo, SNUMsnimr) working properly? I'm trying to persuade a series of T1405-s and T1-s to send SNMP traps of any hardware failure (NIC, power, fan, memory, cpu, whatnot). I've configured it all as per descriptions, the daemon starts running, but traps are only sent out when the daemon gets restarted. I've tried disconnecting one of the redundant power supply cables or one of the LAN cables, but no trap is sent on the spot. However, if I restart the daemon two days later, all the traps (including the first cold-start) is spewed out in one batch.
Solaris is 5.8 Generic_108528-18 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-80, Netra SNMP management Agent v. 1.4
Am I on the wring track completely? How do you monitor your HW?
thanks
