I am trying to install maia Mailguard, and one of its pre-requisites is
Perl module Data-UUID-0.11. I am getting desperate with frustration.

I have blastwave Perl 5.8.7, and gcc version 3.4.5. When I try to 'make'
Data-UID I get error messages that indicate the flags/libraries etc are
not compatible with gcc:

cc: unrecognized option `-KPIC'
cc: language ildoff not recognized

I have tried playing with the flags, but when I get rid of one problem I
just get another.

I have searched everywhere to find someone else who has found/fixed this
problem, but ot no avail.

I cannot believe I am the only person who has this problem?

What am I missing?
