Solaris 8; SPARC5 & 4.2GB Hard Drive

I recently purchased 4 4GB hard drives, 2 Fujitsus, and 2 Seagates, one of
which is Sun Certified.

With each drive, I have physically installed it in a SPARC5 as the boot
drive. I tried to load Solaris 8 from the CD, with varying success. In every
case, the load process or the boot process failed.

I ran diagnostics at the PROM level, and no problem shows up in the memory.

I had loaded Solaris 8 on this machine using a 2GB hard drive. Using this
latter drive as my boot drive, I analyzed one of the 4GB drives (the
Sun-certified Seagate) and no discrepancies showed. I formatted the drive
(getting desperate!) and reloaded the OS on the 4GB drive but it still
crashed. I'm analyzing the other drives as I send this message.

I guess my basic question is this: Is there a conflict among a SPARC5,
Solaris 8 (10/00) and a 4.2GB Hard Drive? Do you have any ideas on what may
be the problem?
