Staroffice 6.0 install question

How do you install staroffice as root and have other users be able to use it. I installed (./setup ) with no errors and the /opt/staroffice6.0 dir has good permissions. When root runs soffice it starts fine. But when a non-root user runs soffice, it gives the following:
The application cannot be started.
The configuration file "/home/dir/.sversionrc" was not found.
Do you want to start the setup application to check your installation?
