SIMS - lost administrator password

I've a bit of a problem and I'm hoping that someone on the list
can shed some enlightenment on it.
We are running SIMS for our in-house mail server. We recently
went through a down-sizing exercise. Well . . . one of the people
downsized just happened to be one of sysadmins, specifically the person
in charge of the mail server (among other things).
To cut to the chase, the administrator password for the SIMS
software is now unavailable. We need to make some configuration changes
(rather soon) and can't get into the software.
Has anyone met this problem before? Does anyone know how to
hack a new password in? (or other solutions?)
