Solaris 9: Tftpd Error 8?

"Error 8", the string packet shown during a snoop gives a little more info
saying the error string is "Option negotiation error".
The files do exist and the file permissions on the tftpboot directory and its
files appear fine.
If we replace the in.tftpd binary with one from a solaris 8 box it works just
fine.
Any clues?
