Size of Xsun process

Does anyone think the following figures for the memory usage of Xsun
are strange on Solaris 8 with 108654-47?
SIZE RES
12159 root 1 59 0 17M 62M sleep 0:00 0.00% Xsun
This is on an Ultra 5 PGX64 with no one logged in. i.e. just the
dtlogin screen.
I've not seen a RES bigger than SIZE before and also, the RES is
massive. On a Solaris 7 machine the figures are much nicer:
SIZE RES
1038 root 1 59 0 143M 19M sleep 4:50 0.03% Xsun
which is with someone logged in and lots of xwindows up.
This is causing us alot of problems for overnight simulations
which now run dog slow due to a lack of memory.
Are there any options which will help reduce the Resident Set Size?
Tom.
