(followup) hanging on exiting openwindows

We finally had a recurrence of the screen "hanging" after exiting openwin. In the previous summary I conjectured from the responses that we were experiencing "whiteout", a case where the colormap was changed to be white on white and thus invisible, but never got to confirm that.

Well, now I could. We blindly typed the command 'clear_colormap' into the whiteout and "promptly" got the prompt back! So that seems to be the answer. I have modified our openwin wrapper to do the clear_colormap automatically after coming out so we shouldn't see it again (please).
