Performance Monitoring

I want to ask that if it is possible to fetch the kernel monitoring
variables (I mean sar outputs) via any C library, i need to use these
variables in a C program so i dont want to fetch them via collection sar
output in a file and parsing from them (ain't it lame? :) )
