removing package from broken kernel?
2007-12-25 1:04:00
I have the following situation:
disk0 = c0t0d0: primary system disk
disk1 = c0t1d0: backup of primary system disk
and running Solaris 2.8
In a long effort to install a dual SUN HBA card I did the following:
- booted from backup disk
- upgraded to Solaris 2.8 version 02/02
- loaded the jumbo recommend patch set
- loaded the required packages/patches for my SUN HBA card
So far so good.
Evrything worked.
Now my last effort was to install 3 packages for my IBM FasT700 SAN
(SMruntime, SMclient, RDAC)
After this last effort when booting from disk1 the system hangs after seeing
the HBA card.
I even removed the card, still the system will not come up.
So it has become impossible to boot the system from disk1
Of course booting from disk0 still works fine.
And now the question:
How do I remove the last 3 packages loaded on my disk1.
So far I tried the following (without succes):
- boot from disk0
- mount the /, /usr and /opt partitions from disk1 as /mnt, /mnt/usr and
/mnt/opt
- tried the following command:
#pkgrm -R /mnt RDAC
- this ask me for a confirmation, but then immediately returns after typing
'yes' without further notice and the package in question is not removed.
Of course I could start the whole cycle over (upgrade, patch, add packages)
but I would like to win some time here.
Many thanks to all of you who answer.
