Modifying the key map

I have learned how to use a german PC Keyboard with a Solaris
Workstation by modifying
cd /usr/openwin/share/etc/keytables
pico keytable.map
6 0 Germany6.kt
However, some very handy keystrokes do not work, neither with the PC
Keyboard (actually Apple) nor with the Sun Keyboard. I would like an
'[' to appear when I press Alt_L+5 and ']' when pressing Alt_L+6 and so
on. These are standard Mac mappings and very convenient IMHO. How would
I go to modify the mapping accordingly? I read the xmodmap manual and
also played with xev , but I haven't got things sorted out yet.
Some help would be greatly appreciated!
