SDLT Woes

2007-12-24 21:04:00

Hi all,
I have a VRTS solution running on Solaris 8. Everything works great except
from time to time, the timeout problem that VRTS mentions on their website
pops up?. I am running a Compaq SDLT library. I know it is a st.conf
issue.

It seems that something is missing becase the tape drive works fine on the
first backup but when that tape needs to be loaded in a second time and the
tape needs to be positioned, that is when I have the problem.

When I run sgscan the inquiry string returns...
"COMPAQ SuperDLT1"

After doing a reboot, in /var/adm/messages I see 'COMPAQ ' Product
'SuperDLT1 '

Of course I have another line for SDLT_data.

I have tried both in st.conf with no luck.

I was wondering if anyone had run into this problem before? If so, what
settings worked for you.
How can I verify if the st.conf settings are actually loaded?

Note: I also set the timeout value in /etc/system.
Will summarize,
