SDS config question

Hello fellow managers,

Just a quick question on creating mirror for the root
slices. Typically we create hosts with the /, swap
and
/var slices only. In a few cases we have some root
mirrors go south on a reconfiguration reboot, but when
I undo everything and rebuild from scratch (according
to the manual) everything works fine on subsequent
reboots. I am talking about Solstice Disk Suite, btw.

But I recently found out our install crew when they
are creating the mirrors for root slices, for some
reason are creating the /var slice first, then the
swap slice and finally the / slice mirror, running the
metaroot command last, instead of first as the manual
suggests. The person doing this says he has done it
this way successfully many times without a problem,
and
I cannot find a real good reason why it won't work OK,
doing it this reverse way, but I wonder if anyone out
there has any such experience doing this or advice as
to why or why not mirroring root should be done in
this fashion.

I am a "go by the book" kind person, so I simply just
instructed them to do it by the book, but am getting
flack about being too paranoid.

I will be happy to summerize if I get some replies
that
clear any of this up.

Thanks in advance,

mike
