The problem of 110383-01 patch failing when adding the
mis1.netra-x1 patches to install image can be ignored.

However later I was still not able to boot over the
the net. The boot was failing with error message:

"Cannot load drivers for /pci at 1f,0/ethernet at c"

This was caused by X1 not finding the correct dmfe drivers
from the install server aftell all so it couldn't boot.
This was happening with install server running x86 Solaris 8.
After rebuilding the install server twice and still not
working I tried another install server, this time using
a Sparc box. After switching to Sparc everything went smoothly.

So at the moment it seems that for some reason you can't
install Solaris (atleast 1-01) to X1 boxes from x86 based install
server. My observations were that the mis1.netra-x1 patches were
failing since the dmfe drivers couldn't be found even after
the patching.

Original question:

I am doing an install server for installing Solaris to
new X1 boxes over network. The install server was built
by using setup_install_server and add_to_install_server
scripts from Solaris 8 1-01 cd's (downloaded and burned
images). I did not add the optional language cd to install
server

After finishing the install server I added the driver
updates for X1 from mis[1].netra-x1.259-3836-02.zip X
which was also downloaded from www.sun.com. Running
the modify_install_server from there one patch fails with
the following message:

-cut-
Installing patch 110383-01 onto miniroot
/raid/install/Solaris_8/Tools/Boot

Checking installed patches...
Re-installing patch 110383-01...

create

110383-01 are not installed on this system.

Patchadd is terminating.
modify_install_server (WARNING): installing patch 110383-01 failed
Installing patch 108528-06 onto miniroot

-cut-

The patch seems to be "SunOS 5.8: libnvpair patch". What is
libnvpair? Should I install it to the miniroot first by
hand before installing over network?

The docs say X1's currentlu support only 10/00. Belive at
the time of writing 1-01 was not out yet and it surely must
be backwards compatible.
