SMTP MAIL protocol error: 501

Hi. My system's var/adm/messages file contains:

<root at hercules>... Sender domain must exist
Nov 5 14:13:19 hercules inetd[256]: /usr/sbin/bootpd: Hangup
Nov 5 14:13:43 hercules last message repeated 3 times
Nov 5 14:20:51 hercules inetd[256]: /usr/sbin/bootpd: Hangup
Nov 5 14:21:15 hercules last message repeated 3 times
Nov 5 14:28:23 hercules inetd[256]: /usr/sbin/bootpd: Hangup
Nov 5 14:28:47 hercules last message repeated 3 times

I am able to send mail as Root and there does NOT seem to be an issue/problem
with the server's performance etc. Is there some process that needs to be restarted?

Please advise where to look. I am running Solaris 2.6 on an Ultra2.
