port scan detection

i need some help from you guys.
we are in the process of setting up port scan
detection
. we have routers that send data to E450 machine
running solaris 8 when the router cache gets full.
we want to set up a intrusion detection system things
like we want to know if outsiders are scaning our host
machine.
does anyone know of any software that can do this.
any suggestions will be appreciated.
