Resolution looks great on OpenWindows, horrible on CDE

I have a Sun Ultra 60 Workstation running Solaris 2.7
Graphics card is an Expert3D-Lite, although I have tried
a Creator 3D and am seeing the same problem.
If I log in at the dtlogin screen and use OpenWindows
my screen loks fine, nice and sharp.
If I log in at the dtlogin screen and use CDE, the graphics
are lousy. Text looks slightly blurred and not sharp at all.
What is going on ?
Is there a config file I need to change ?
