PPP 2.4.1/OpenSSH/pty-redir problem
2007-12-24 19:08:00
I'm setting up, or rather trying to set up, a VPN through the TIS FWTK
using PPP 2.4.1/OpenSSH. At this point the master and slave systems
are Solaris 2.6. All was going well until the final stage, trying
to connect PPP on the master via pty-redir.
When establishing the connection by hand pppd is started on the slave OK
and gives me back the normal gibberish you would expect, so basically
the SSH connection should be OK all the way through the firewall. As soon
as I run the session in a script via pty-redir instead and attempt to
start pppd on the master, connecting to the /dev/ttyp? reported back
from pty-redir, nothing happens i.e. although the slave pppd is
started it basically times out as if it isn't seeing the pppd on
the master. The slave pppd is set to passive so hangs around after
sending Config-requests.
pty-redir is not a huge piece of code so I'm currently at a loss as to why
I can't get over this particular hurdle. Haven't found anything
useful in the archives yet, still looking, but ideally need this up and
running by Friday.
Cheers,
Stuart
