mounting root filesystem read only

2007-12-24 18:54:00

I have combined / and /usr into one filesystem. I would like to mount
the root filesystem (/ + /usr) read-only for security purpose. Can I
do that bearing in mind that /etc/mnttab has to be written or updated
when a new filesystem is mounted or after a reboot?
