My original post was as follows:

When I try to run ghostscript I get the following message:

# ./gs F-15.ps

Initializing... gs: Cannot open X display `(null)'.

I had ensured that I had permission vi xhost + and confirmed

that I was trying to open a valid postscript file.

Several people responded, and the winning solution was SO

easy that I'm embarassed that I was not able to debug:

Make sure to setenv DISPLAY hostname:0.0
