Jumpstart & Booting from Symmetrix

i have a question in the context of a Jumpstart-Server. There is a
machine - the client (blade or netra) - that has its boot-disks on
an EMC-Symmetrix. So it boots from an external device - in normal
operation.
In case you want to completely re-install the system, the standard-
kernel does not see the external devices, because there are no
drivers for the Symmetrix integrated in the standard kernel.
How do i (i don't know how to call that correctly) - patch or adjust
the kernel (or how do i pass the drivers with it in the process of
the installation), in order to install the boot-disks directly on
the external disks via the Jumpstart Server? Anybody out there who
already did that successfully?
Or would i install the system first on a local disk and after
System-Restart i would transfer the System disks to the Sym?
Or is there another elegant way i did not see yet?
TIA
Carsten
