Lost hostid and MAC address

I have the following output while trying to boot a Sparc 10 machine:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
...
(lots of test outputs, which seem to turn out OK)
...
Sun Ultra 5/10 UPA/PCI (UltraSPARC-IIi 300MHz), No Keyboard
OpenBoot 3.27, 128 MB (60 ns) memory installed, Serial #16777215.
Ethernet address ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, Host ID: ffffffff.
The IDPROM contents are invalid
Boot device: net File and args:
Internal loopback test -- Did not receive expected loopback packet.
Evaluating: boot
Can't open boot device
ok
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Notice the bogus host id and MAC address.
I can type in commands at the boot prompt, and the system answers.
The story is that the owner spilled coffee on the keyboard, which continued to
work for a while and then started to act weird (as one might expect...)
So, he logged in remotely and did a proper shutdown. After fitting another
keyboard, the machine wouldn't reboot and I hooked it up to a serial line to
see the above message...
Now, I got to fix things...
Is the machine toast ? Any simple things I should try ?
TIA. Cheers,
Christian
